Instagram 1-year old accounts: are they worth it?
The longest-aged Instagram and Threads accounts in our catalogue are the 1-year profiles. They cost more than fresh or standard aged accounts, so the obvious question is whether the extra history is worth paying for. The honest answer: it depends on what you plan to do in the first month.
What "1-year" means
A 1-year account was created at least a year before delivery and has been kept since. It is phone verified, like our other accounts. It is not a profile with a large following or a verified badge; it is a shell with a long creation history. That history is what you are paying for.
Why history helps on Instagram
Instagram is cautious with new accounts. New profiles that follow many people, send DMs to non-followers or post links quickly run into "action blocked" messages and verification prompts. Instagram does not publish exact thresholds, but older accounts with consistent history generally receive more tolerance. A year of age is a meaningful signal compared with an account created last week.
Who benefits most
- Businesses that need to message customers soon, such as replying to enquiries or reaching out to partners.
- Agencies setting up client profiles that must be productive quickly.
- Users connecting other tools, like a Facebook page, scheduling apps or a shop, where older accounts tend to pass checks more smoothly.
- Threads users who want a well-established Instagram base under their Threads profile – see Threads 1-year.
Who does not need it
If you plan to post original content for weeks and grow slowly, a fresh Instagram PVA or standard aged Instagram PVA is fine and cheaper. Our aged vs fresh comparison gives a simple rule for deciding.
Do not waste the history
The commonest mistake with old accounts is treating them as indestructible. A 1-year account that suddenly logs in from a new country, changes its name, photo, bio and email in ten minutes, and follows hundreds of people that afternoon looks just like a hacked account. To keep the benefit:
- Log in from one consistent device and connection. See logging in safely with proxies.
- Secure it over the first day: password, email, then 2FA. Use our security guide.
- Change profile details one at a time across a few days.
- Follow a shortened warm-up of about a week, from the warm-up plan.
Switching to a professional account
Older accounts are a good base for a business or creator account. Switch in Settings once the account is secured and has been active for a few days. Choose an accurate category and add contact details.
Rules still apply
Age gives patience, not permission. Instagram's rules against fake engagement, spam and impersonation apply equally to old accounts, and violations can lead to restrictions or removal regardless of age.
Frequently asked questions
Does a 1-year account have posts or followers?
Not as a rule. The value is the creation age. Some profiles may have minor history, but you should plan to build content and followers yourself.
Is 1-year better than aged for Threads?
It gives the longest history under the Threads profile. If you need a Threads profile that is active quickly, it is the strongest option; for slow growth, aged or fresh is good value.
Can I change everything on a 1-year account?
Yes, gradually. Spread changes across several days so the account does not look taken over.
Summary
A 1-year Instagram account is worth it if you need to be active, message people or connect business tools early. If you will grow slowly, fresh or aged is the better value. Either way, protect the history with a consistent setup and gradual changes. See Instagram 1-year and all accounts.
